Academic block

The Academic block 2 in Shiv Nadar university is One of our ambitious projects that paved our way to create an ever-growing space for the students of shiv Nadar university.

The design process was commenced with the idea of creating a new academic block which will accommodate a large cluster of spaces such as tutorial rooms, classrooms, laboratory and library. The entire motive of the project is to create a wholesome space that would allow students to explore the flexibility of movement from enclosed spaces to breakouts spaces. The design evolved as a response to the site context, as this block is an extension of the existing academic block. Keeping this in mind we created a simplicity in the form in order to follow the similar language of the nearby existing academic block. This flow of idea to integrate it with the existing block allowed us to create a connecting space between the to forms which will encourage student interaction and will create opportunity for various student activities

The entire floor plate is zoned into 3 clusters centred around the main entrance area which is oriented towards the south. A G +3 structure in which these clusters were classified upon the requirements from the client. To break the monotony of these spaces, the corridors were integrated with breakout spaces which will give the flexibility for the students to use these spaces as an interactive and gathering space and also to allow natural light into the circulation space. This distribution of spaces creates an introverted characters to the whole building which yet allows to connect with the exterior with the positioning of the breakout spaces. The library being the prime active space in this block is designed to be located on the topmost floor keeping in mind to give the space more of natural light and to create a proper visual connect to the surrounding green spaces.

LAW SCHOOL

Occupying a prime location in the Shiv Nadar university, the site is covered with abode of trees. The law school was designed keeping in mind, the location of the buildings and the surround feature.

The design challenge was to create a form that will retain the full-grown trees that occupy most area of the site. The idea is centred with the philosophy that focuses in creating the building that grows through the trees. As the site is located near the main clock tower park which involved a huge curved road inside the university, the building is designed to take up two forms in juxtaposition to each other- which is a curved mass that reads the language of the main curved road of the site and the solid rectangular mass which provides an introverted character in response to the adjacent building.

The design potential involved in the arrangement of spaces is the idea to involve as much as green spaces and natural light inside the building which is again a response to the surround green area. This building grows as a G+3 structure which accommodated classrooms, tutorial rooms, mood courts and library. Keeping in mind the importance of interactions needed for student, we created alternative breakout spaces which open up to the internal courtyard, that would enhance the potential to learn, relearn and explore minds. The green space is not limited to the courtyards but also flows into the breakout spaces.

The library is positioned in the first floor, with the idea of opening up to the green spaces in the exterior and the courtyard. This brings in the advantage of getting in more natural light and also creating a connectivity with the exterior cluster of trees.
