ACADEMIC
Academic Block is a sensitive and contemporary response to a compact site, where space is at a premium but design aspires for openness, light, and community. The building is thoughtfully wrapped by a canopy of tall existing trees, which not only buffer the structure from surrounding developments but also lend a calm, shaded, and verdant atmosphere to the academic environment.
At the heart of the design lies a vertical atrium, a multi-storey internal void that serves as the spatial and social core of the building. This atrium brings natural light into the deeper pockets of the structure and connects all floors through visual and physical transparency. Alongside it, strategically carved voids, double-height cut-outs, and open terraces break the mass and provide spatial relief—transforming the compact footprint into a breathable, engaging built form.
